Sometime in near future computers will be able to convincingly mimic you. It won't be you, but your brain clone could hang around and grow and learn forever. That will be cool, and fun. Because you have spent a life time becoming you, why let all that wisdom go to waste?
Brain clones may be practical within the next ten years, perhaps sooner. It won't require writing a complicated program. Instead the computer will learn how to act like you from you, by watching you, listening to you, accessing your journals, calendars, and photo collection, and learning your written responses to questions about your personal philosophy. And after its initially training, your brain clone could continue to learn.
Neural networks use training data sets of examples to program themselves. The more extensive the training data, the better the mimicry. Neural networks can also evaluate the performance of other neural networks on the training data set. So one neural network can tell another neural network how to imporve. As a result, neural networks could spend the equivalent of tens of thousands of human hours practicing to be you, perhaps longer than you spent learning to be you. Eventually, your brain clone will be very good at being a future version of you.
Your brain clone won't mimic the function of your brain. Just as modern aircraft don't fly like birds or insects, you brain clone will mimic you with very different hardware. It will have access to virtually limitless and photographic memory. It will have more neurons that operate thousands of times faster than yours, the working memory of many Einsteins, and only be limited by the exponential growth of technology.
This site explores creating training data and test data that would enable a computer to mimic you. We are NOT aiming for the level of precision of mind uploading. No one knows if it will be possible to accurately replicate a personality from a human connectome. Your brain clone will start out a lot like you, and then grow like you did, or never change, if you prefer.
